Professional Development Courses
Good to Better offers professional development courses to therapists and therapy assistants. Good to Better will release courses and workshops as they become available. Current courses include soft tissue occupational therapy, and courses in development include custom fabrication skills for assistive technology, and short courses in home modifications.
Introduction to Soft Tissue Occupational Therapy Workshop
Price: $250 per person
NOTE: This workshop was offered in February and May 2024. Please put in an EOI below if you would like to be updated for future offerings.
This one-day workshop will provide you a hands-on introduction to soft tissue injury management for occupational therapists. You will learn key principles for acute and chronic injury management, develop hands on palpation and assessment techniques, and acquire a wide range of hands-on techniques including myofascial, neurological and taping interventions.
This small group workshop will have a maximum of 10 participants.

Custom Fabrication Workshop
No study, no pre-reading, just skills. This small group, half day workshop comes to you. We will introduce you to basic principles of customising assistive technology. You will develop hands-on skills in working with foam, webbing, buckles, and sewing machines, doing minor customisations for assistive technology (non-weight bearing).
This small group workshop will have a maximum of 8 participants and can be held at your practice in south-east Queensland (or beyond). Open to therapists and therapy assistants.

Circus as Therapy (experiential education session for therapists)
Circus has the potential to highlight the uniqueness of individuals, and to make physical activity and social interaction fun.
Good to Better Therapy has extensive experience using circus as a therapeutic modality for physical rehabilitation and psychosocial skill building. Specialised harness systems enable access for people with all levels of mobility.
Does your therapy team want to learn more about circus as therapy, while also experiencing a fun, team building activity (e.g., work end-of-year celebration). Your OT side-hustle (group supervision series)
Are you interested in starting an OT side-hustle, such as a small weekend clinic, clinical supervision service, or running workshops?
In this series of 3 x 1.5hr group supervision sessions delivered via Zoom over a series of weekends, you will guided by Good to Better’s director Dr Kieran Broome to consider how to establish a sole tradership OT side-hustle. There is a limit of 6 persons in the group.

Session 1: VISION (group discussion of your side-hustle idea and considerations for values, value proposition, risk, investment, contractual constraints, intellectual property, and business name).
Session 2: BUILD (explore different options to support your business and fundamental requirements such as insurance, registrations, accounting, recording keeping, platforms/venues, and intellectual property protections).
Session 3: LAUNCH (website, promotions, communications, and staying true to your core business).
This is group supervision, and not a structured workshop. Active participation of participants is expected.

Clinical Supervision
Good to Better’s senior occupational therapists, Dr Kieran Broome and Carmen Mitchell, offer clinical supervision to occupational therapists and other health professionals via Zoom (currently Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). Kieran is a generalist occupational therapist, with primary areas of expertise is adult physical, assistive technology and home modifications. Carmen is experienced in workplace rehabilitation, injury management and prevention, community adult physical (including DVA), and quality assurance of complex reports. Check out our clinical services and our About Us page to make sure that Kieran or Carmen’s scope of expertise matches your needs.
Price:
Level A (supervisee keeps supervision record): $140 per 55mins, $70 for 25mins
Level B (supervisor keeps supervision record): $194 per 55mins
