Second Opinion Service
Sometimes it’s useful to have a second opinion. At Good to Better we offer a second opinion occupational therapy services via telehealth. The service can be accessed by a local occupational therapist working with a client, or clients can book directly with Good to Better for a second opinion. A second opinion can be helpful to help your local therapist get the best outcome possible, problem-solve challenging situations, guide you to alternative options, or reassure you that you’re on the right track.
Good to Better’s second opinion service does not replace your local therapist or other support services. The second opinion service is a time-limited and specific service, although some clients may access it periodically to help improve their care.
Before booking, please read through the Service Agreement here. By booking an appointment you are agreeing to the standard Service Agreement.
What’s involved?
You or your therapist books in a time with our senior occupational therapist, Dr Kieran Broome, on his second opinion days (currently Mondays & Tuesdays). This can be done using our interactive calendar and booking system below. You can choose the length of your appointments.
25 minutes: our quick consultation is best for single question or to point you in the right direction
55 minutes: our medium consultation best suits a meeting with yourself and your local therapist
85 minutes: this is best if you have multiple needs or if you are attending without your local therapist
Once you’ve booked your appointment, you will be automatically sent a Zoom link to your email address. On the day you can log in to the Zoom appointment and meet with Kieran. If you want a second opinion on assistive technology or home modifications, it can often be useful to have someone with you to help carry your phone, tablet or laptop around the house, and to help out with measurements. You are welcome to attend with or without your local therapist. During the session, Kieran will write a brief email to summarise any recommendations or ideas. You can choose whether this is sent to yourself and your local therapist, or just yourself.
What are the prices?
25 minutes: $80
55 minutes: $150
85 minutes: $215
Yes, our prices for the second opinion service are lower than the NDIS price guide. That’s because with the NDIS our therapists usually do a lot of unpaid work outside of their time with you. During the second opinion service, while our therapists give you their undivided attention they aren’t following up with phone calls or reports outside of the session. The lower prices also acknowledges that it is beneficial to have your local therapist present, and that you may need to conserve your plan funds.
Report Checking Service
Are you a health professional? Would you like an experienced occupational therapist (with more than 20 years of experience) to check your report and provide feedback on your clinical reason, clarity of logic, and general proofreading?
Medico Legal
Good to Better’s senior occupational therapist, Dr Kieran Broome, is experienced in providing medicolegal services. Given his previous roles working within prison settings, Kieran’s medicolegal services typically focus on working with prisoners, especially those with health or disability needs that can make returning to the community or management within the prison setting more challenging.
